Walla Walla County Jail Roster

The Walla Walla County Jail Inmate Roster is a public resource that allows residents of Washington State to find out who is currently in custody at the county correctional facility. Public information about current and recent inmates can be found on the WallaWallaCourt.us website. Additionally, data is available through the official website of the county department of corrections, by phone, or during a personal visit to the jail. The roster search allows you to check a person's custody status, find out the charges filed, and obtain booking data. The roster is maintained by the Walla Walla County Department of Corrections, is regularly updated, and is posted on the county's official website.

Search Current Inmates in Walla Walla Jail

There are several ways to find information about individuals currently held in the Walla Walla County Jail.

Online Search

  1. Visit WallaWallaCourt.us to search for publicly available court information related to inmates.
  2. Go to the county department of corrections page, where a list of individuals in custody may be posted.
  3. If the person has been transferred to state facilities, use the Washington Department of Corrections inmate search.

You will need the person's full legal name for the search. A booking number speeds up the process if you know it. The roster is usually displayed as a list with the ability to view or search using the browser's function (Ctrl+F). Juvenile offenders are not included in the public roster.

Find Walla Walla Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created when a detained person is officially registered in jail. This document records key arrest data and is part of the county's public record.

What is included in the booking record:

  • Booking number — a unique identifier
  • Date and time of jail registration
  • Charges filed
  • Arresting agency (sheriff, city police, etc.)
  • Basic identification data of the detainee

Access to booking records can be obtained in several ways. The easiest is to view the online inmate roster on the county's website. If you need information about a case already in court, contact the county superior court clerk's office by phone at 509-524-2780. For state-level court case searches, there is a name and case number search portal for Washington courts.

If the record does not appear in the online roster, you can submit an official public records request. The county sheriff's office is required to respond to such requests in accordance with the Washington State Public Records Act (RCW 42.56).

Search the Walla Walla Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The roster supports two main search methods.

Search by Last Name

Enter the last name of the detained person. Adding the first name will narrow the results if the last name is common. A few tips:

  • Ensure correct spelling — even one letter can change the result
  • Try different spellings if the name has multiple transliterations
  • Some systems allow partial search: enter the first three or four letters of the last name

Search by Booking Number

If you know the booking number, enter it in the appropriate field. This is the most accurate method — the system will return a single result without the need to filter namesakes.

What to Do If the Search Yields No Results

  1. Check the spelling of the first and last name.
  2. The person may have been released — the roster only shows those in custody at the time of the request.
  3. There may be a delay of several hours between the actual arrest and the appearance of the record in the system.
  4. If the person has been transferred to a state-level facility, use the state Department of Corrections search.
  5. Call the jail directly for clarification.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Walla Walla

The inmate roster is updated regularly, but not always in real-time. In practice, there may be a delay of several hours to a day between the time a detainee is registered in jail and the appearance of their data in the online roster — this depends on processing time and staff workload.

Main limitations to consider:

  • Publication delay. New records do not appear instantly. If the arrest happened recently, the information may not yet be in the system.
  • Disappearance after release. When a person is released, their record is usually removed from the roster shortly thereafter. The roster is not an archive of all past bookings.
  • Only current custody. The list shows those currently in custody. For historical data, contact the county public records office or submit a separate request.
  • Data entry errors. Sometimes names are entered incorrectly, complicating the search. Try alternative spellings.

To check state-level arrest warrants, use the Washington Department of Corrections warrant search. If you need court documents for a specific case, contact the superior court clerk's office at 315 West Main, Walla Walla, WA 99362, or call 509-524-2780.
